Education for Photographers

The very first workshop I hosted was in conjunction with Matoli Keely Photography in February of 2015. The Introduction to Film Photography workshop was a great success and our attendees left feeling confident with metering and shooting film. In fact, several of our attendees were shooting film for the very first time and their photos from the workshop were gorgeous!

I am so proud to report that many of our attendees that submitted their work from our workshop were featured in some of the industry’s top wedding blogs including: Magnolia Rouge, Wedding Sparrow, Belle Lumiere, Trendy Bride, Glamour & Grace, Style Me Pretty, and The Bride Link. Matoli’s work from the workshop was featured in Wedding Chicks, and my work was featured in Elizabeth Anne Designs.

The second Introduction to Film Photography workshop was held in April 2015 at The Retreat at Cool Spring. Rather that hosting a 1 Day workshop, Matoli and I decided to stretch the material out into a couple days. We also wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere for our attendees and give them time to really soak up everything we were sharing with them.

Our attendees had great success and many had their work featured in top blogs including: 100 Layer Cake, Adorn Magazine, Mountainside Bride, The Boudoir Collective, and we’re still getting news of more features! Matolie’s work was featured in Wedding Sparrow, Elizabeth Anne Designs, and Trendy Bride Magazine. The links to my features from the workshop are below:

Q: Do I have to shoot film in order to schedule a mentoring session?

A: Film and digital photographers are both welcome and can benefit from the mentoring services. But make sure you are very specific up front about *exactly* what you want to get out of your mentoring session.

Q: What is the focus of the mentoring sessions?

A: The focus of all of my educational offerings is centered on the basics of shooting film. If you’re a digital photographer who wants to learn how to shoot film, but don’t know where to start, this is perfect for you! If you’ve dabbled in film, but aren’t getting the results you want, this is also a great opportunity to refine what you know and expand your knowledge base!

Q: Do you teach “business” stuff too?

A: I am still in the process of growing Kristen Lynne Photography to where I want it to be. I do not feel that I have the knowledge base (yet) to teach with a focus on growing a business. However, I do teach what I’ve learned about business with regards to film. Namely, I discuss and provide extremely thorough and helpful resources about pricing, which I think is the biggest (business) shift for photographers when switching to film.

One-on-one mentoring sessions allow you to spend a full day learning from Kristen. The day starts off with a heart-to-heart consult & portfolio review in a gorgeous & relaxed setting. The conversation carries over into lunch (Kristen’s treat of course)! After lunch you get some hands-on shooting practice with Kristen during an inspiration shoot that is designed by a local wedding planner just for you! The day ends with a complimentary portrait session; a little memento from your day & a great opportunity to get some new head shots. All one-on-one mentoring sessions take place in the Northern Virginia Area and are held on weekdays.

One-on-one mentoring sessions are $2450 and include a full day of hanging out, learning, & shooting with Kristen.

You may register with a friend or business partner and share a One-on-One Mentoring session at a special rate of $1950/ea. Please inquire for details and availability.
